Title: Staff Engineer
(Geotechnical and Environmental)
Job Description: This is a P.E. track position encompassing the areas
of environmental consulting, geotechnical engineering, and services for
testing and observation. Work performed within the environmental arena
will be heavily focused on the completion of Phase I Environmental Site
Assessments, with a small percentage of work associated with Phase II
work. Job assignments in the Geotechnical arena will concentrate on a
multitude of tasks including field engineering on the drill rig,
supervision of drilling activities, supervision of laboratory testing
activities in connection with geotechnical reports, preparation of
geotechnical reports, and proposals for future work. Applicable work in
the testing and observation field will include training technical
personnel with regard to proper field testing and
observation/inspection procedures, review of technical inspection
efforts, performing special inspections during the course of
construction, and reviewing and reporting of testing and inspection
data.
Qualifications: Qualified applicants must have a B.S.E. in Civil
Engineering and have successfully passed the Engineer-In-Training
examination. These two requirements are a must. Other attributes that
will be considered heavily are the ability to adapt quickly to various
engineering software packages; above average spreadsheet knowledge, and
courses in geotechnical engineering. A good understanding of the basic
principles of geotechnical engineering will prove very helpful. Wages
will commensurate with experience.
